Quick review: O.G Kid Frost - Old School Funk
Written by Funkadelic
Sunday, 25 August 2013 15:50

If you ask me, O.G Kid Frost, aka the godfather of chicano rap, made a really impressive comeback to the game with his "All Oldies" series. After bringing you the soul he decided to bring you some funk by releasing his latest tape called "Old School Funk" earlier this year. The LP which is mixed and mastered by Kryptonite and distibuted by SL Entertainment is an album which has really grown on me by time. When I heard it for the first time I wasn't that impressed with the album at all for some reason. Although I didn't really feel it back then I still gave it another chance and am listening to it over and over again since then. And let me tell you, the more I have listened to it the more I am still feeling it. The tape starts with a really dope track called "Boss" where Frost shows that he can still rock the mic in his unique style which made him what he is, a true legend in this chicano rap game. Other tracks you shouldn't miss are "We Don't Give A Fuck", his anthem to the beautiful state of California "Out Here In California", "100 Spoke Chrome" or the hidden track which is probably featuring the biggest and most impressive line up that has ever been featured on one single chicano rap track. Overall you can say that "Old School Funk" is a must have for every true c-rap fan out there and that Frost still got what it takes to deliver a dope rap album.

Quick review: Conejo - Undisputed
Written by Funkadelic
Sunday, 07 July 2013 18:31

Over the last years there has been no artist that put our more music than Conejo. As we all know he released a brand new mixtape called "Undisputed" a couple of weeks ago. After listening to the CD a few times this week I thought to bring you a quick review to let you know what I actually think about the "Undisputed" mixtape. The mixtape starts with a really good introduction, the title track, which is actually started by a nice sample of legendary ring annoucer Michael Buffer. The track puts you in a nice mood for the rest of the album and probably couldn't have been selected any better. The next cut I like to mention is called "Oldest Profession". The track talks about prostitution, a topic that Conejo has already touched a couple of times and so far I have always liked those songs, with the current one being no exception from that rule. Other really interesting tracks are "Going Off Like That", "Stranger To Death", "C-Rock Is Up In Paris", "One Two Three Four" or "I Bring The Ruckus". Overall you can say that "Undisputed" is another Conejo classic which shouldn't be missing in your C-O-N collection. What I really like about the mixtape is that he raps about some beats you normally wouldn't expect him to rap on. That brings a whole different flavor compared to his regular album releases. Talking about his album releases, he's already supposed to release a brand new album called "Mastermind" the next couple of weeks. Stay tuned for more information about this on here or in our forum, the CalifaRap Community.
